Keeping Life Real

I was reading an article today that caused me to pause. It discussed our obsession with tooting our own horns through social media outlets. The article suggested people will not hesitate to post images that capture their very best. Because of this, we start envying others and make the mistake of believing that the highlights we see are the entire story. But what if people were less obsessed with the false or self-absorbed image of themselves and became more concerned about the image of Christ being lived out in them?
What if we could be honest about our imperfections and highlight our progression instead of our perfection? Sometimes we need to be genuine enough to say to someone, “I am not okay.” Saints of God, it’s okay if we’re not okay sometimes. If life was always perfect, then our dependence on Christ would lessen. Additionally, few would bother to pray if things were always great. If we never face adversity, we would not appreciate times of joy and prosperity. So today, if you are not okay, find a brother or sister to lean on because God didn’t create us to go at it alone.
United with Christ as one body with many members, we are all in this thing together.
