DON'T BE AFRAID!

What are you afraid of? Psalm 34:4 says “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears”. What is your expectation of our Lord? This is a personal testimony that we should learn from. The term dāraš does not speak of a person who is seeking someone whose location is unknown. This Hebrew word conveys a sense that one is seeking to restore a relationship or inquiring to attain guidance and direction. There is no confusion or wondering here because there is a preexisting relationship. As such, there is a level of expectation. The Psalmist sought the Lord because he expected to receive guidance, direction, or deliverance from the God he knows.

What fears are you dealing with today? Do not be afraid to seek the Lord for guidance, direction, and deliverance. If you have not consulted the Lord lately, perhaps it is because you do not expect Him to provide guidance, direction, or deliverance. As a result, you do not pray as much because you do not expect much or you are afraid of the answer. Maybe you do not ask because you fear being disappointed. If so, do not allow such fears to hinder your prayer. I think one of our greatest fears may be that either the Lord will not answer or we will not like the answer. Keep in mind, if the Lord says "no" or "wait," perhaps it is because He sees what we cannot see. Read Exodus 13:17-18 and you will find that the shortest route was not the best route for Israel on their way to the promised land. Our Lord looks out for us. I want to encourage you today to seek the Lord through consistent prayer and see what happens. Keep bothering God and don't give up just because you are afraid.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! (Psalm 34:8)

Blessings
